I have always been in love with the idea of living on the beach in a treehouse, and for the first two nights on my trip to Tulum, I did! We stayed at the amazing Azulik Hotel, and the setting was incredible.

Waking up under a thatched roof looking out at the crashing waves of the ocean, hearing the sound of the water & birds as the sun peeks through the windows...it was magical! Walking through the grounds felt like I was in another world...the entire place looked like it had been made from hand, with nets hanging in the restaurant and over the ocean, swings that you could sit on with your feet dangling over the water, it was so cool!

While you feel as though you are so far away from the world while staying at Azulik, the best part about it is that it is actually situated right on the main strip in Tulum where you can step out the front door and have a plethora of restaurants and shops at your fingertips. The food was the only part that wasn't my favourite at the hotel (also, be prepared to be without power or lights, they are an eco friendly hotel and at night it is just candles! There is one plug in each room, but there is no service and you will only find wifi in the common area, so be prepared to chill out and slow down!) so I definitely suggest heading out of the hotel to get your meals.

The only meal I do recommend having at the restaurant is breakfast, though, if you order room service, because they have the most fun way of ordering, and because their breakfast menu is delicious. To order, you have to write your order on a piece of paper, roll it up and put it in a wooden ball that you then drop down a tube at the entrance of your suite - You have to wait to hear a gong and that means it made it to the kitchen! So fun, and so very Swiss Family Robinson .
