Front Row Only - Chanel F/W 2016 Ready To Wear
Every season, the runway show I am most excited to see is Chanel. Of course I absolutely love the history of the brand- From the story of Gabrielle Chanel to the story of her iconic little black dresses to the newer history made by Karl Lagerfeld, it leaves me feeling so inspired and makes my love for the brand go so far beyond just the brand name. The fact that the craftsmanship of off of the ready to wear clothing, accessories, brands and footwear are what they are make them just that much more special - and that is why I am so in love with Chanel.
I will never forget the first time I visited 31 Rue Cambon in Paris where Chanel (now Coco) had her salons and would show her collections - She would have the models walk down the stairs, and I had the chance to sit on those steps myself - it was an absolute dream come true! The setting of each and every CHANEL runway show is always breathtaking, but the fact that the Fall Winter 2016 CHANEL Ready To Wear Collection was presented in a space that was reminiscent of Chanel's salons was so special. I absolutely loved the fact, too, that they took care to make every seat front row, hence calling the presentation "Front Row Only" - It makes such a difference to be able to see the collection close up, without having a head or a hand in your way - I thought that was such a wonderful design concept.
Now of course - let's get to the collection! I collected a few of my favourite looks and accessory shots above -the Fall/Winter 2016 Collection matched it's setting being that it harkened back to Chanel's iconic pieces. Mid length dresses and skirts, wool jackets, long strings of pearls and tweed were all a main focus, paired with more modern fabrics and details including jersey, denim and zippers. Tulle and chiffon softened the trench coats and boleros, and gold silk, chenille velvet and golden beads created an etherial feel.
It was a magical collection, and of course, I am already looking forward to discovering the next one!
