Malibu is such a fun place to visit when in L.A...and one of the best parts is getting there! I love cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway ~The views are just beautiful. 

There are so many beaches to stop at along the way, you really can't go wrong. I had never driven to El Matador Beach, but it is by far and away my favourite!

The views from the top are breathtaking, and there are tons of rocks that are just so pretty when the tide is in or out. It also is just a park beach, which means there aren't any loungers or bars or restaurants around (I like Paradise Cove but it is definitely less natural) so it is just so nice to to able to walk along the beach and sit anywhere you want to - so good! I highly recommend packing a lunch and hanging out all day -it is that good.
